The reconstruction of a Carib Cayo village, adjacent to the airport, begins. The village is expected to be an added attraction for the airport area, while providing an insight into this country’s history.
The access road to the passenger terminal is completed.
A LIAT ATR 72-600 plane, with 53 passengers including Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves on board, lands at the AIA. The flight was greeted by a sea of cheering red-clad supporters of the ruling Unity Labor Party and was one of seven planes that landed that afternoon.
Four small aircraft touch down at the AIA. This historic moment, which took place shortly before the 2015 general elections was witnessed by thousands of Vincentians.
President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro visits the AIA and is given a tour of the facility.
